I come from Soroti, an Eastern part of Uganda where most places are disadvantaged due to a number of disasters, for example, wars like the Lord’s Resistance Army(LRA), the Kony war, and Karamojong cattle rustlers among others.

Both my parents are alive. My father, the breadwinner, was injured by the LRA rebels and it made him disabled and unable to do anything productive like we used to depend on. My mother is a peasant who could not even afford to take care of all ten children to go to school. Three brothers and six sisters are at home due to their inability to pay school fees.

My situation is a little bit different. Me, I first realized my calling to the priesthood through a special moment with my great-grandmother, who used to take me to church and sing for me hymns at church. Due to her old age, she fell sick and the priest came to anoint her, and finding me beside her, he said "you are going to become a priest and help me in the ministry." I always remembered that.

When I joined the class of instruction for confirmation, I was asked to join the altar servers, and I did. Later, I was asked to be a youth leader and I gladly served. When I was in that position, the priest used to call me "bishop" because I had the same name as the bishop of Soroti at that time. Over time, I fell in love with the church and her ministry.

In time, I asked to join the seminary. I personally struggled with secondary studies as it was not easy for my mother to pay school fees and I sometimes was unable to attend school. During that time, I was supported by my foster father who later died due to Covid 19. When he passed away, it made me unable to meet the costs of my formation to the priesthood and I had to stay at home for two years.

Last year, I resumed my studies at the catholic university of theology. I went in full faith that I am being called to serve the Church as a priest. Right now, I sadly have tuition debts at the university and I am not being allowed to take my final exams.

This situation has made me stuck, and I am unable to continue right now. I am asking for support from anyone who is willing and able to sponsor me. I promise, with the grace of God, to continue my studies, and follow the Lord's will for my life. Thank you.

OPTIONS FOR SPONSORSHIP

$500/month is a full sponsorship, but we give options for multiple sponsors to join together to sponsor a seminarian. If a seminarian is already partially sponsored, you may see less options for sponsorship.

Erasmus will be writing to each sponsor and praying for each family daily. Please know that sponsorship for his studies to become a priest (1 year left) is an enormous answer to his prayers and he will forever be praying for you whether you sponsor him partially or fully.

About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
