Br. Simon Dick Gidudu is a 22-year-old Ugandan from Mbale, born into a humble family with strong Christian roots. He is the third born out of four children. Although raised by an Anglican father and a Catholic mother, Simon was deeply inspired by the Catholic faith from an early age. His spiritual journey began in primary school when he admired the altar servers and was moved by the teachings of his parish priest. Learning about the life of St. Padre Pio strengthened his desire to serve God as a Franciscan missionary priest. He joined the altar boys, later became a member of the church choir, and even taught catechism during school holidays. His devotion to the Catholic faith and missionary spirit has continued to grow over the years.
Br. Simon is now a dedicated member of the Sons of St. Pius of Pietrelcina and has successfully completed his first stage of religious formation. He has been admitted to pursue a three-year degree in philosophical studies at Tangaza University in Nairobi, beginning in August 2025. This program is a critical part of his preparation for priesthood, equipping him with the spiritual and intellectual formation required to faithfully serve the Church and community. However, the cost of tuition and accommodation for the entire program—is beyond the current financial capacity of his religious community.
We kindly appeal for your generous support to help Br. Simon continue his studies without interruption. Your assistance will not only ease the financial burden on his community but also empower him to focus fully on his academic and spiritual journey. With your help, Br. Simon will be better prepared to answer his call to serve the poor, the youth, and the most vulnerable members of society as a future priest. Your contribution will truly be a seed planted in good soil, helping nurture a devoted servant of God.
