Br. Joseph’s desire for priesthood began to grow during his childhood through his experiences in his home community. Sundays were particularly special to him because he always looked forward to going to church, where he encountered the beauty of the Catholic faith and gradually developed a deeper appreciation for the spiritual life of the Church.

As he grew older, he became increasingly aware of the shortage of priests in his community. There were times when the faithful had to spend long periods without celebrating Holy Mass or receiving the sacraments, while others were forced to travel long distances in search of a priest. These experiences left a lasting impression on him and raised important questions about the future of the Church in his community. Although he did not fully understand the meaning of a religious vocation at that young age, he began to wonder who would serve the spiritual needs of the people and bring them closer to God.

With time, these childhood experiences became a source of deeper reflection and discernment. Br. Joseph gradually began to recognize the possibility that God was calling him to the priesthood. He developed a personal desire to become a priest who would bring the Eucharist, administer the sacraments, proclaim the Gospel, and make God’s presence more accessible to the faithful, especially those living in communities where access to pastoral care is limited.

What began as a childhood curiosity gradually grew into a sincere desire to dedicate his life to God and the service of His Church. His vocation is rooted in a desire to respond to the spiritual needs of God’s people and to become an instrument of His love, mercy, and reconciliation. Through his formation, Br. Joseph hopes to deepen his faith, strengthen his spiritual life, and prepare himself for the responsibilities of priestly ministry.

As Br. Joseph continues his formation towards priesthood, he faces the financial challenges associated with his education and vocational preparation. He is therefore seeking a sponsor whose support would enable him to continue his formation and grow towards fulfilling his vocation. A sponsorship would be a valuable contribution to his journey towards priesthood and his future mission of bringing the sacraments, pastoral care, and the message of Christ to communities in need.

About my community:
St. Anthony of Padua (Fort Portal)
In the Diocese of Fort Portal, CARITAS helps to sponsor Capuchin Franciscan seminarians during their priestly formation. The patron Saint for this community is St. Anthony of Padua, and we pray for his intercession so that these young men excel in their studies and also become holy priests, spreading the Gospel wherever they are assigned after ordination.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
