Br. Francis' inspiration to become a priest began at a very young age, when he was in Primary Three. At that time, his father took him to church and encouraged him to become an altar server. This became an important foundation for his spiritual journey and gradually awakened in him a deep admiration for the priesthood.

As an altar server, he had the opportunity to participate closely in the celebration of Holy Mass and observe the life and ministry of priests. He was particularly touched by the kindness and welcoming nature of the priests in his parish. They treated the altar servers with love, respect, and encouragement, making them feel valued in their service to the Church.

His participation in pastoral activities, especially Sunday celebrations, further strengthened his attraction to priesthood. He enjoyed assisting at Mass, learning the various liturgical gestures, observing the priests as they celebrated the Eucharist, and appreciating the beauty and solemnity of the Church's worship.

The chanting, vestments, prayers, and movements during the celebration of Mass left a lasting impression on him. At times, while standing near the altar and watching the priest celebrate Mass, he imagined himself in the priest's place. He began to wonder what it would be like to dedicate his entire life to God and serve His people as a priest.

What began as a childhood dream gradually developed into a deep desire for priesthood, a desire that continued to grow throughout his life and remains central to his vocation today.

Br. Francis' journey of discovering the Capuchin Franciscan Brothers began when a Capuchin Friar came to celebrate Mass in his parish. He immediately became curious about the religious men and wanted to understand more about their identity and way of life.He consulted a friend who was more knowledgeable about religious congregations, who explained to him that they were Capuchin Franciscans. His curiosity increased, prompting him to learn more about the Order. Through reading and research, he discovered more about the history, spirituality, mission, and way of life of the Capuchin Franciscan Brothers.

As he continued learning about the Capuchins, he became increasingly attracted to their charism and values. He recognized in their way of life the kind of religious community he had admired since childhood. One of the aspects that particularly attracted Br. Francis to the Capuchin Franciscan family was their spirit of brotherhood. He was inspired by the way Capuchin brothers live together not merely as members of the same religious community but as brothers who care for, support, and accompany one another through both joys and challenges. He also appreciated their simple way of life. The Capuchin vocation is not centered on material possessions or personal comfort. Instead, the friars strive to live simply, share what they have, and remain focused on prayer, fraternity, service, and following the example of Jesus Christ and St. Francis of Assisi.

Br. Francis was further attracted to the humility and closeness of the Capuchin Friars to ordinary people, especially the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. He admired their willingness to walk with people who suffer, listen to their needs, and offer support and encouragement. This spirit of compassion resonated deeply with his understanding that authentic service to God must be accompanied by love and concern for others.

He remains deeply committed to his vocation and desires to continue growing in faith, holiness, fraternity, and service as he prepares for the Catholic priesthood. His vocation is rooted in a sincere desire to follow Christ through the Franciscan way of life and to dedicate his life to serving God and His people, particularly those who are poor, vulnerable, and in need of spiritual and material support. He hopes to become a faithful priest who will proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the Sacraments, accompany people in their faith, and bring hope and compassion to those entrusted to his pastoral care.

However, the journey toward priesthood requires several years of spiritual, academic, pastoral, and community formation. It also involves expenses related to tuition, accommodation, meals, books, formation materials, pastoral activities, and other essential needs. Due to limited financial resources, meeting these requirements remains a significant challenge for him and his family. Without adequate support, his journey toward priesthood may face serious difficulties.

For this reason, he humbly appeals to well-wishers, benefactors, and potential sponsors to consider supporting his vocation and formation. A sponsorship relationship would not only help meet his immediate educational and formation needs but would also enable him to continue responding faithfully to God’s call. Any financial assistance, whether regular or occasional, would be received with sincere gratitude and would make a meaningful contribution to his journey toward becoming a Catholic priest dedicated to serving God, the Church, and His people.

About my community:
St. Anthony of Padua (Fort Portal)
In the Diocese of Fort Portal, CARITAS helps to sponsor Capuchin Franciscan seminarians during their priestly formation. The patron Saint for this community is St. Anthony of Padua, and we pray for his intercession so that these young men excel in their studies and also become holy priests, spreading the Gospel wherever they are assigned after ordination.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
