Br. David desired to become a priest when he witnessed spiritual needs in his home community. Although there were many Christians in the area, priests were very few. At times their local church could go for one or even two years without a priest to celebrate Holy Mass or administer the sacraments. Whenever Christians needed confession or other sacraments, they had to travel long distances to the parish. The catechist was often the only person available to lead Sunday services and other celebrations.
Witnessing these challenges made him realize how greatly people needed priests, especially in communities where priests were scarce. This gradually awakened in him a desire to become a priest so that, one day, he could serve communities like his own and bring God's presence and spiritual care closer to His people.
His vocation was further strengthened through his participation in Holy Mass. He admired the way the priest conducted himself, particularly during the celebration of the Eucharist. He developed a deep desire to one day celebrate the sacraments and dedicate his life to serving God's people.
However, his parents are peasant farmers who depended on small plots of land to grow food for the family and meet their basic household needs. Their limited agricultural income is barely sufficient for daily necessities, making it difficult for them to afford the costs of seminary education, including tuition, accommodation, meals, books, and other essential requirements.
Despite their willingness to support his vocation, their financial situation cannot sustain the cost of his formation. Without external assistance, his journey toward priesthood may be interrupted. He therefore needs financial support to continue his formation, pursue his vocation, and eventually dedicate his life to serving God and His people.
