Augustine Kasagga is a 21-year-old young religious from Masaka-Central Uganda, born into a devout Catholic family to Joseph Kalema and Rosemary Nakyejwe. He last born child in the family among the five children. From a tender age, Augustine showed a deep love for the Church. Inspired by the life and example of St. Augustine, he felt called to become a priest. His early involvement in Church activities began in primary school as an altar server and continued_joined went to Bukalasa minor seminary where he  joined choir, played piano during Mass, and led catechism classes.

Augustine has now been admitted at Uganda Martyrs’ National Seminary Aloklum-Gulu. This program is a crucial part of his priestly formation. Despite his commitment, he faces financial constraints. The family head is currently indisposed of work and cannot earn any income, he was once a taxi driver, and the family is now relying on the mother’s little income she earn from tailoring work.

We humbly appeal for your kind support to help Augustine fulfill his calling. Your contribution will directly cover his tuition and accommodation, allowing him to concentrate on his academic and spiritual formation without interruption. Supporting Augustine is not only an investment in his future but also in the lives of the many people he hopes to serve—especially the poor, young children, sick, youth and people with disability. With your generous assistance, you will be helping form a devoted priest ready to serve the Church with humility, compassion, and unwavering faith.

About my community:
St. Teresa of Calcutta (Masaka)
In the Masaka Diocese, CARITAS finds many abandoned and orphaned children living with relatives in destitute poverty. Since the hardship, there is so extreme, and our sponsors bring so much hope and love to these families, we have chosen St. Teresa of Calcutta to be the patron saint of this community.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
