Position Summary

CARITAS For Children is a Catholic Lay Apostolate that primarily develops relationships between people living in poverty and faithful Catholics: specifically, those who desire to live out the Gospel message by loving thy neighbor and assisting in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. The EDMD will assist in building these global relationships by making the mission of CARITAS into his/her personal platform for preaching, networking, entering into ministry, and assisting with Development. Throughout this ministry, the EDMD will be giving real hope and a future to thousands of children worldwide! This will make a lasting difference in the children’s lives, as well as to all those who the children, in turn, reach with their love.

The Deacon, Priest, or Religious Brother/Sister filling this position will have a natural and heartfelt charism for human communication, a love for evangelization, and a desire to make a global impact. The EDMD will help us to grow awareness of our special mission of caritas (God’s Love) through ministry at home and with occasional travel to our mission territories. He/she will also assist the Director of Fundraising to acquire support for special projects, and to help increase the ability for our ministry to grow and be most effective. An excellent candidate for this position will be an effective communicator in writing, an enthusiastic preacher, and preferably having had some mission trip/ missionary experience.

Ministerial Responsibilities:

1. Preaching

-       Learning to preach about CARITAS from previous examples

-       Create your own style of preaching the message of what CARITAS does and inspiring people to join our mission

-       Occasionally preaching at weekend Masses to bring awareness of CARITAS and to gain more sponsors

2. Outreach to our Sponsors

-       Helping to write Caritas emails for our current sponsors

-       Writing Blog articles about the Catholic faith, the Gospel of the week, and the work that CARITAS is doing

-       Timely messages to our sponsors based on current events via email, video, social media etc.

-       Occasionally meeting with our sponsors at events and concelebrate Mass with them

3. Mission Trips and Pilgrimages

-       Create messages (video and in writing) to promote international mission trips to our CARITAS locations

-       Be the spiritual guide for our pilgrimages and mission trips

Development Responsibilities:

1. Networking/Building Relationships

-       Write messages, create videos, and call specific people to establish special relationships (examples: archdioceses, dioceses, parishes, schools, universities, retirement homes)

-       Meet and follow up with people from these institutions to inspire them to join our ministry in several ways

2. Public Relations

-       Go on TV interviews and internet podcasts to speak about our collaborative ministry

-       Help to write articles for magazine and newspaper publications

3. Fundraising

-       Sign letters to help us raise money for specific projects

-       Go to meetings with potential donors

-       Be present at big Catholic events to showcase our ministry at our booth

Qualifications: 

-       Deacon, Priest, or Religious Brother/Sister

-       Experience Preaching and writing faith-based content

-       Must know or be willing to learn about the global Catholic Church

-       Mission trips or Missionary Experience preferred

-       Fundraising Experience required
