Director of Finance & Operations

Title: Director of Finance and Operations

Reports to: President/CEO

Time Commitment: Full Time

Compensation: Based on Experience, Open to Negotiation/Discussion

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Remote for the right candidate

Position Summary

CARITAS For Children is a Catholic Lay Apostolate that primarily develops relationships between people living in poverty and faithful Catholics: specifically, those who desire to live out the Gospel message by loving thy neighbor and assisting in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. The Director of Finance and Operations will work closely with other employees on accounting and operational tasks while applying the CARITAS mission mindset.

The Director of Finance and Operations will prepare, track, and review financial reports, send invoices, and initiate incoming and outgoing payments, and optimize the process by exploring the programs provided.

The Director of Finance and Operations will be an effective communicator and creative problem solver with experience in accounting and online business development. If you are a faith-filled, detail oriented, and organized person, we would love to hear from you.

As a religious organization, we enthusiastically invite members of the Catholic faith to join our team, particularly those with religious vocations, although these qualities are not required. We feel that those with a religious background will be more prepared to open their hearts to the CARITAS mission and will benefit significantly from being part of the team.

Responsibilities:

Analyze monthly statements and monitor donor payments
Organize monthly program reports
Prepare financial reports and initiate payments
Present reports and statements to CARITAS President for review
Communicate effectively with fellow team members and donors
Work closely with fellow team members to answer questions and solve problems
Develop and improve methods of organizing financial reports using available programs
Maintain running records of payments, donors, and beneficiaries as needed
Manage staff activities and provide guidance when needed


Requirements and Skills

Required:

    • Accounting experience (2 years minimum)
    • Experience working remotely if not living near Milwaukee(1 year)
    • Microsoft 360 Suite familiarity, particularly in Excel
    • Strong analytical capabilities
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Team oriented
    • Professional demeanor and customer service skills
    • Strong sense of ethics
    • Understanding or willingness to learn about the global Catholic Church
    • Relevant degree (finance, accounting, business administration, etc.)


Preferred: 

    • Catholic faith
    • Deacon or other religious vocation
    • Experience in fundraising
    • Experience working in an NGO/Non-profit organization
    • Mission work experience
