Good Health
Favorite Subject: Reading
Favorite Pastime: Dancing

Six years ago, Vivian’s parents separated and her father abandoned the family. He does not even communicate with them now. Vivian’s mother was a cook at a school, but has developed a skin condition that now prevents her from working at this job. Instead, she now grows food at home which she uses to feed her family.

Since the father does not send any support and they don’t even know where he is, the burden of paying for school fees falls all on the mother and she has a difficult time keeping up with them.

Vivian will need a sponsorship so she can continue in school and hopes, if she is able to finish her education, to become a nurse when she grows up.

Vivian is a loving girl who cares for her siblings at home. She also loves dancing. Her sister Mastula Nalubowa is available for sponsorship as well.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
