Viola lives with her parents and two siblings. Her parents are peasant farmers who work on a small two-acre piece of land where they grow crops such as coffee, bananas, beans, cassava, and potatoes.
Because the land is small, the harvest is mainly used to feed the family, leaving very little surplus to generate income for school fees and other educational needs. As a result, the family struggles to consistently meet school-related expenses.
Her father occasionally takes on casual labor to supplement the household income, but these jobs are irregular and often do not provide enough to cover the children’s school fees.
Viola attends school, but her education is frequently disrupted due to a lack of school requirements and unpaid fees. At times, she is sent home to collect outstanding balances.
Despite these challenges, Viola remains in school, and with consistent support, she would be able to continue her education without interruption and focus on her learning.
