Theresa’s father abandoned the family and left them in a rental house which her mother (who was unemployed) couldn’t afford to pay for. As a result, the landlord chased them away. They went to live with the grandparents who are peasant farmers. They grow enough food to feed the family and Theresa’s mother is trying to make some samosas to sell and earn some money to support her children somehow. She is only earning about $10 USD a month, and it’s the only income they have.
Theresa would like to become a nurse when she grows up, but her mother and grandparents are not able to send her into school. She will have little or no chance of finishing her education if she is not sponsored.
