Sadly, Teopista and her two brothers have been abandoned by both of their parents. Their father left first, leaving their mom to care for them alone. When life became too difficult for them, their mother left the children with their aunt and disappeared. Their aunt would have cared for them but unfortunately she passed away soon after, so their grandmother (who they met for the first time at their aunt’s burial) stepped in to provide for them.

Since their parents have never returned and they have no way of reaching them, Teopista’s grandma has to support them all by herself. She is a peasant farmer who grows food for them to eat, and sometimes she sells produce to pay for other things. She struggles to afford school fees for her grandchildren so they have had to miss classes sometimes, which affects their performance in school.

Sponsorship will enable Teopista to stay in school and finish her education, easing the burden on her grandmother! She wants to be a professional hairdresser when she grows up.
