Solomon’s family once relied on a small shop in Nsukka, Nigeria, for their livelihood. However, the area was recently marked by the government for demolition as part of an urban development project. Without warning, their shop was destroyed, and the family had no chance to recover the goods inside. In an instant, they lost their only source of income and have struggled ever since to rebuild their lives.

Solomon’s mother shared her plea in the following letter:

“Please, brothers and sisters, help me send my son Solomon Ikedi Ugwuja back to school. I lost my shop as a result of demolition in my village, and the small goods I was selling were also destroyed in the process. I am no longer able to continue paying my children’s school fees. Please have pity on me.”

Because of this sudden loss, Solomon is now at risk of falling behind in his education. With sponsorship, he will be able to return to school and continue learning, while easing the heavy financial burden on his family. Your support would give Solomon’s mother peace of mind and help restore hope for their future.

About my community:
St. Maria Goretti (Nsukka)
For a long time, the Diocese of Nsukka has suffered from kidnapping and slaughter at the hands of multiple terrorist groups. As CARITAS provides a Catholic education to these suffering young children, we pray for the intercession of St. Maria Goretti to help them be courageous and holy in spite of all their difficulties.
About my country:
Nigeria
On the coast of West Africa, Nigeria is the most populous country on the?continent and is home to more than 500 diverse ethnic groups. The country is split between top and bottom by a religious divide of Christians and Muslims. Its people have suffered much during the Ebola epidemic and at the hands of terrorist groups, both in the past and even into the present.
