Uganda
DOB: 08/02/2016
Female
Good Health
Favorite Subject: Social Studies
Favorite Pastime: Athletics

Recheal's family faces significant poverty despite both parents being alive. Her mother is a housewife, while her father is currently unemployed. They reside in a small house inherited from Recheal's grandfather and rely on cultivating a small plot of land for sustenance. Selling a portion of their harvest helps them meet basic household needs like sugar and salt.

Recheal attends a nearby school, but her consistent attendance is hindered by the lack of necessary school supplies. Often, she is sent back home to collect the required items, but her parents struggle to afford them.

Despite these challenges, Recheal is determined to pursue her education. She dreams of becoming a doctor and is eager to excel in school. With the support and assistance she needs, Recheal can overcome the financial obstacles that currently impede her education and work towards achieving her goal of becoming a doctor.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
