Reagan is an intelligent boy who loves studying so much. His life has been difficult since the loss of his father. His mother tried to support him alone,  but she was overwhelmed by the responsibility, and made the difficult decision to leave Reagan with his grandmother.

Reagan's mother has never returned, and his grandmother has struggled to support his education, but Reagan's passion for learning has driven him to do everything he can to overcome these hurdles. He is so ambitious, and has taken up every odd job possible in his village and at his school in order to afford his tuition. Despite his best efforts, he isn't able to afford all of his needs. Because of this, the school has withheld his progress reports, which can be discouraging for Reagan.

His grandmother is too old to look for odd jobs to earn income, but she tries to provide by doing some peasant farming with Reagan's help. With this, they are able to grow food to eat at home. Now, Reagan has successfully advanced to the secondary level of education, which is very exciting for him! However, advancing comes with higher tuition fees that he simply isn't able to afford. He continues working to earn as much as he can, but he requires additional support to continue his education.

Reagan is desperately hoping for support through CARITAS For Children. His dream is to become a lawyer someday if he is able to complete his education.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
