Michelle Nambiro
Michelle lives with her mother, who was only able to study up to Primary 5 before dropping out of school due to lack of school fees. Later, she got married and had two children, but their father abandoned the family and has not been heard from since.
Michelle’s mother works hard to support her children, often doing laundry for others to earn a small income. However, even covering basic needs like food and rent is a struggle. Her greatest challenge is being able to afford her children’s education.
She is now seeking support so that Michelle can continue and complete her education, giving her the opportunity to build a better future.
About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
