Marvelous lives with her mother and siblings after her father left the family due to the financial pressures of providing for them. Her father's departure has been deeply painful for the entire family, leaving Marvelous and her five siblings without the support they need during their childhood.

When her husband left, Marvelous's mother, Ngozi John, had no source of income and faced the overwhelming challenge of caring for her six children on her own. Although she has recently found work as a cleaner, her earnings are very modest and are not enough to consistently provide food, school fees, and other necessities for the family.

Despite these hardships, Ngozi continues to work hard to care for her children and hopes to see them receive the education they deserve. However, the family's limited income makes it difficult to keep the children in school and meet their daily needs.
