Elisa Nyanzi Talemwa
Elisa is a young boy living with both his six brothers and sisters and his parents who are peasant farmers. His parents want to educate their children very much but sadly are unable to send them to school since they can only afford to feed themselves; what little extra money they can make when they work in other people’s gardens goes towards clothing, paying rent, and covering medical expenses.
Elisa is a happy and kind boy who would like to become an engineer when he grows up if he is able to finish his education.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
