Divine’s mother got pregnant while young with another student, and he ran away because he was afraid of prosecution. Divine’s mother eventually left her with her grandmother and disappeared. It has now been two years since she left all responsibility for her child with the 65-year-old grandma.
Divine’s grandma digs in people’s gardens for food as compensation to feed the two of them, but she doesn’t have enough money to support her granddaughter in school. Divine is a friendly girl who enjoys playing with other kids on the swings and hopes to become a nurse when she grows up if she is able to finish her education.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
