Cleophus comes from a family where her parents are both alive but face significant financial difficulties. Her father, who used to work as a driver for the little sisters of St. Francis, lost his job when the truck he drove was sold. Unfortunately, finding employment as a driver in Uganda is challenging, and Cleophus's father has been unable to secure another job in his field. This leaves him unemployed, and the prospects of finding work in the near future are uncertain.

To contribute to the family's income, Cleophus's mother takes on laundry jobs for teachers at a local school and occasionally cleans houses. However, these jobs are not well-paid, as she may only have a couple of laundry jobs per week. The income she earns from these jobs is primarily used to provide for the family's basic needs, leaving very little or no money available to cover Cleophus's school requirements.

Despite the financial hardships, Cleophus is a diligent and hard-working girl. With the right support and assistance, she has the potential to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. By providing the necessary resources for her education, including school fees and supplies, Cleophus can continue her studies without interruption and work towards her goal of becoming a nurse. Through empowerment and assistance, Cleophus can overcome the financial obstacles she faces and make a positive impact in her community by pursuing a career in nursing.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
