Brishous' father died of Malaria in March of 2018 leaving him and his elder brother with their mother who had no job and was just a mere housewife. The mother struggled with the children for about four months but later failed and took them to a sister-in-law (Bricious’ Aunt), she abandoned them to her and she completely disappeared. This Aunt is and has been taking care of Bricious and his brother as well as her own children but failed to support them in school herself being a single mother too. The Aunt sales African pancakes and banana on the streets of Nkokonjeru trading center as a source of income and too she digs in other people’s gardens to get food as compensation but all this is just helping the family for survival in terms of feeding and possible medical needs. Bricious needs education to become an important and self-reliant citizen in future as his dream is to become a mechanical engineer if he gets a chance of education.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
