Bosco lives with both of his parents, who are peasant farmers. His mother sells produce from their small garden and sometimes supplements her stock by buying from other local farmers. His father remains busy with farming activities and also takes on occasional casual work such as cleaning compounds for wealthier households.

The income earned by both parents is used to support the household and pay school fees for their children. However, their work is not always reliable, as agricultural produce is seasonal and incomes vary throughout the year. At times, the family is unable to harvest enough from their garden, forcing the mother to purchase additional produce from other farmers, which further reduces their already limited income.

As a result, the family sometimes struggles to meet basic needs, including meals and outstanding school fee balances.

Bosco and his siblings attend a nearby school in their community. He is an active and hardworking learner who is always willing to participate in school activities and complete assigned tasks.

Bosco dreams of becoming a motor vehicle mechanic in the future. With consistent support, he would be able to remain in school and work toward achieving his goal.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
