Austine is a vibrant young boy who, despite facing significant hardships, shows remarkable resilience and enthusiasm for life. He is one of five children in a family living well below the poverty line. His parents struggle daily to provide even a single meal, relying on various odd jobs like making charcoal, gardening for others, and fetching water to earn a meager income. Sometimes, when the situation becomes too dire, the children must rely on their grandmother for additional support.

Despite these challenges, Austine is an active and committed student at a privately owned primary school near his home. He excels in extracurricular activities, showing a particular talent and passion for singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments, especially the drum. His academic performance is promising, and with additional support, he could further focus on his studies and achieve even higher grades.

Austine dreams of becoming an accountant, inspired by one of his uncles who works in a bank in Uganda. With the right support and encouragement, Austine has the potential to pursue his aspirations, change his family's financial situation, and inspire those around him. Sponsorship would provide him with the stability and resources needed to fully engage in his education and work towards his goals.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
