Anthony's life story is one of hardship and resilience. Tragically, he lost his father during his infancy, a loss that set the course for the difficulties that followed. His mother, left to raise Anthony and his older sister, Kevin Agatha Nantume, struggled to find employment. Despite her best efforts to provide for her children, she was unable to secure a job and eventually felt compelled to leave her children with their paternal aunt.

Life with their aunt has been a continuous struggle. While she has done her utmost to meet their basic and educational needs, her limited income as a single woman relying on small-scale farming and craftwork has made it increasingly difficult to support the growing needs of the children. Anthony, a boy with a talent for soccer and a friendly demeanor, dreams of becoming a nurse, a goal that seems out of reach under the current circumstances.

Recognizing his potential and aspirations, the family is now seeking educational sponsorship for Anthony. They hope that with support, he will be able to pursue his dream and break the cycle of poverty that has defined his life thus far. Assistance in his education would not only transform Anthony's future but also bring much-needed relief and hope to his family.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
