Annet lives with her widowed mother and three siblings in a small home. Her father passed away in 2010, leaving her mother solely responsible for meeting all the family's needs—including school fees for four children. As a primary school teacher, Annet’s mother works hard, but her modest salary is not enough to cover both daily expenses and the cost of education.

In search of help, Annet’s mother turned to CARITAS For Children. Among her four children, Annet received sponsorship, which brought renewed hope and allowed her to continue her studies. This support meant the world to Annet, who dreams of becoming a nurse one day. For ten years, the sponsorship helped lighten the financial burden on her mother, who continued to struggle to support her other children’s education.

Unfortunately, Annet lost her sponsor with just two years remaining to complete her advanced secondary education—a critical step toward achieving her goals. Her mother is still unable to afford the fees on her own.

With your help, Annet can return to school, complete her education, and take one step closer to self sufficiency. Your support will not only impact Annet’s future but also give hope to her family.

About my community:
Mother Kevin CARITAS Uganda
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi) In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
