Scovia’s mother is a single parent who has struggled all the way to bring up her four children. She has had a nasty experience of the sickness of the youngest daughter whose problem is of unknown health condition that has made her spend every single penny that was earned. The bad health of her child has made her give her income-generating activity and she decided to stay home to look after her. She has been a timber supplier to individuals who are in the construction business.

Scovia is a determined girl and ready to pursue her academic studies but the problem that befell the home became a hinderance to all her ambitions. She had been offered a vacancy at Stella Maris Boarding Primary in anticipation that one day the mother will gain her status but all has been a failure.

Scovia has high hopes of being a nurse if she is assisted in attending school.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
