Phillip lives with his parents in Nkokonjeru Village. His father is a village school teacher who earns about $43 per month, while his mother, who didn’t complete school, is currently unemployed.

Phillip's family struggles to afford his school fees. This has led to frequent disruptions in his education, making it hard for him to stay focused and consistent in his studies.

With the support of a sponsor, Phillip could attend school regularly and work toward his goal of building a better future.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)

In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
