Noelina’s mother separated from her father after enduring many years of mistreatment and domestic violence every night from her drunken husband. She left her children with their father, who married another woman. Thankfully, this stepmother was good to them and took care of them but as they were growing, their abusive father chased Noelina, her little brother and her older sister away and they went to their mother.

Noelina's older sister was selling sweet bananas on the street to earn money to support them but tragically, as she was working, she was raped which resulted into a little girl named Specioza Bisasirwa (also available for sponsorship). Noelina's sister also had epilepsy and she had a seizure that took her life in 2022 - may she rest in peace!

Fortunately, Noelina, her mother and brother are still safe from their abusive father but are living in a misery. Someone gave them a small house to live in as caretakers but Noelina's mother still has to dig in other people’s gardens to earn food and other support for her family.

Noelina is a very intelligent and caring girl and would like to become an accountant when she grows up if she gets a chance to complete her education. She needs to be sponsored to attend school, which would ease the burden on her mother.

To help Noelina go to boarding school, she will need $150/month from one sponsor, or $75/month from two sponsors.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
