Mitcheal Elizabeth  stays with her father whose main job to slash and clean the church and presbytery compound. It’s a village church whose income depends on the offertory collected during Sunday’s services. It’s from the offertory that some money is paid to people who do some work for the church and its usually very little that it cannot assist in sustaining a home.

Her father does some digging too in order to provide food for the family. The garden is on a small piece of land and its where the family house was constructed. Life for this gentleman has never been the same since the death of his dear wife. He has been struggling alone to make goals meet yet he experiences ill health most of the time. His two children whom he fathered with his deceased wife attend classes from a nearby school but they keep on missing lessons because of lack of school requirements and above all tuition fee.

Mitcheal Elizabeth  attends school and his academic work is promising and if any assistance is extended to her she will be able to have a steady progress of her academic and as such realize her dream of being a doctor.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
