Milly began her education through the support of a long-time sponsor, which allowed her to study up to Senior 4. Unfortunately, her sponsor could no longer continue, and Milly now needs new support to finish school—she’s just a couple years away from graduation and is determined to finish strong.

Milly lost her father at the age of five. Her mother, who is HIV positive and often unwell, was unable to care for her, so Milly was sent to live with her grandmother. Though loving, her grandmother is a peasant caring for several grandchildren and cannot afford school fees.

Milly is a joyful and talented student who dreams of completing her education and using her future profession to give back to her community. With sponsorship, she can stay on track and reach her goal of becoming a self-reliant and compassionate leader.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
