Joseph’s mother abandoned the family because his father had little money and couldn’t provide for their needs. She left her four children behind and ran away. Joseph and his siblings live with their father who works as a local teacher, earning about $30 USD a month. This is not enough to provide for all his children’s needs as well as school, so sponsorships will be needed to help them go to school.
Joseph is a shy and quiet little boy who enjoys riding his bike and he would like to become a doctor when he grows up. His sister Jane Frances Namatovu is also available for sponsorship.
To help Joseph go to boarding school, he will need $120/month from one sponsor or $60/month from two sponsors.

In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
