Issy's family has faced tremendous hardships due to the absence and abandonment of her father. Left with her mother and sister, they reside in a small rented house, struggling to make ends meet. Despite being aware of the family's suffering, her father has chosen to remain distant, frequently spotted in Mukono town but showing no concern for their welfare. It is believed that he left upon learning of his wife's kidney problem, unwilling to bear the financial burden of her treatment and the potential complications associated with her being HIV positive.

In the midst of these challenges, Issy's mother bravely shoulders the responsibility of providing for her family. However, she herself requires assistance, as her father's health is deteriorating due to hypertension. The burden of caring for her father's health further adds to their worries and financial strain.

Issy, a brilliant young girl, holds the dream of becoming a doctor. With support, she can realize this aspiration and contribute to the medical field. By assisting Issy and her family, we can help alleviate their hardships and provide them with the opportunity to build a brighter future.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
