Elisa and her sister Elanny have been living in the Home for a month after facing a high-risk situation. Their mother fled from a dangerous environment with her partner, leaving the girls without shelter. A kind-hearted family reached out to the Home, which immediately took action to provide the sisters with safety, care, and stability.

Elisa is a smart and helpful young girl who shows great resilience and determination to overcome her challenges. She dreams of becoming a teacher someday so she can provide guidance and care to children like herself, and cultivate their love of learning. Despite her difficult past, Elisa’s positive spirit and drive to improve herself shine through.

This Institution is committed to providing Elisa with the support and nurturing environment she needs to grow up in safety, dignity, and love. With sponsorship, Elisa will have the opportunity to pursue her education and continue striving toward her dream of becoming a nurse, as well as the chance to grow into a compassionate and responsible member of society. Your support could transform her life and help her achieve a brighter, more hopeful future.

About my community:
St. Teresa of Avila (San Juan)
In the diocese of San Juan, CARITAS provides our ministry in collaboration with the Carmelite Sisters. Because our children are being taught and brought up by these sisters, the patron saint whose intercession we ask for this community is St. Teresa of Avila, a famous Carmelite saint.
About my country:
Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic, on the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola, is frequently pummeled by hurricanes and tropical storms that can significantly impact the lives of poor people. Over 34% of Dominicans live below the poverty line, and in addition, many Haitian children have fled here in the aftermath of the 2010 and 2020 earthquake.
