Collins is a warm-hearted and sociable young boy who finds joy in learning. However, his life has been marked by significant challenges. His mother's departure from his life remains a mystery, leaving Collins under the care of his father. Unfortunately, his father's demanding work as a builder often kept him away from home, making it challenging for him to provide adequate care for Collins. In search of support, his father remarried, hoping that Collins' stepmother could fulfill the role, but this decision proved detrimental. Collins suffered from neglect and malnutrition, as his stepmother battled alcoholism and failed to provide proper care.

Recognizing the dire situation, Collins' father entrusted him to his elderly grandmother, despite her limited capacity to care for a growing child. Despite these hardships, Collins was able to attend a boarding school with the help of his friends and the school's support. However, a tragic turn of events occurred when Collins' father sustained a spinal cord fracture from a fall while working. This debilitating injury rendered his father unable to work and provide for Collins. Consequently, the financial support that enabled Collins to continue his education was abruptly halted, leaving him in a state of uncertainty.

Presently in a crucial phase of his education as a candidate class student, Collins' dreams of becoming an Automotive engineer and a priest as he even qualified to join a minor Seminary but are at risk due to the lack of financial means to continue his studies. Urgently in need of a sponsor for boarding school, Collins' determination to succeed and build a brighter future remains unwavering, despite the formidable challenges he has faced.

About my community:
St. Joseph (Kiyinda-Mityana)
The Kiyanda-Mityana diocese experiences serious social problems that include high rates of orphans, school dropouts, delinquency, and violence against women, children, and even priests. We pray to St. Joseph for his protection against these evils and to help guide our young people in this diocese.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
