Christine's life is marked by considerable hardship, as her parents struggle to provide even the most basic necessities in their home. They live under conditions where securing daily meals is a significant challenge, and their clothing is worn and inadequate. Despite both parents being alive, the family's survival is constantly uncertain in an environment that offers little relief or support.

Fortunately, Christine's grandmother has stepped in to help. Owning a small farm with cows and pigs, the grandmother manages to support Christine's education by selling some of the animals. However, this source of income is precarious due to the potential risks of natural disasters common in Uganda, which could decimate the livestock and the financial stability she provides.

Unfortutely, Christine lost her sponsor due to financils constraits being experienced by the sponsor family.

Recognizing Christine's potential and her academic promise, the grandmother is committed to ensuring Christine can attend school and fulfill her requirements. Christine, a dedicated student, aspires to become a nurse. Her grandmother is struggling to support Christine alone, and has reached out to CARITAS For Children for much needed assistance.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
