Christian Allan lives with his father, who works as the caretaker of their small village church. The church’s income comes solely from Sunday offertory, and the amount collected is rarely enough to support the workers or provide for the family’s daily needs. To supplement this, his father also tends a small garden on the same piece of land where their modest home stands, hoping to grow enough food for his children.

Life changed drastically for the family after the passing of Christian’s mother. His father has been doing his best to care for the children on his own, but his ongoing health challenges make it difficult for him to work consistently. With limited income and many responsibilities, he often struggles to pay school fees and provide the necessary supplies for his children.

Despite these hardships, Christian Allan is a committed student with promising academic potential. He attends a nearby school but frequently misses lessons because his father cannot meet the tuition requirements. With support, Christian would be able to attend school regularly, stay on track with his studies, and continue building a hopeful future.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
