Catherine is a joyful 4-year-old living with her mother, three sisters, and elderly grandmother in Kigango village. Her father left during the COVID-19 pandemic, and since then, her mother has worked hard doing odd jobs to support the family.

Although their mother tries her best, it’s been difficult to provide for the children’s daily needs and education. Catherine’s older sisters have often missed school due to a lack of fees and supplies, and now that Catherine has gotten old enough to attend school, they need help more than ever.

Catherine requires boarding school in order to provide her the supplies, clothes, and meals her family is unable to guarantee. With support, Catherine can begin her education on time and grow alongside children her age in a safe and nurturing environment.

About my community:
St. Charles Lwanga (Kampala)
Kampala is the largest diocese in Uganda, so most of our children attend schools in this region. St. Charles Lwanga (one of the Uganda Martyrs whose shrine is located in this diocese) is also the patron saint of Africa, so we invoke his patronage on this community.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
