Allan Victor lives with his parents and his brother Alvin in a small village located north of Lake Victoria in Uganda. His mother works as a copy typist at a local technical school, while his father is currently unemployed and continuously searching for work. Despite their efforts, the family struggles with severe poverty, making it difficult to meet their daily needs and cover their children's educational expenses.

The mother's income is barely enough to sustain the household, often leading to the family being unable to pay school fees for their children. This financial hardship has resulted in Allan missing several days of school, causing him to fall behind in his studies and produce poor academic results. The inconsistency in his education has also taken a toll on Allan's morale, leading him to lose hope in his academic pursuits.

However, Allan has the potential to be a great student. With regular attendance and consistent support, he could excel in his studies and work toward his dream of becoming a motor vehicle mechanic. Any assistance provided to Allan would enable him to attend school regularly, restore his confidence, and allow him to focus on achieving his academic and career goals.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
