Ahinoa is a bright and cheerful young girl who, despite the difficult circumstances she has faced, remains hopeful and eager to improve herself every day. For the past two years, she has been living in the Home due to being at high social risk. Both of her parents are struggling with substance abuse and homelessness, which left her in a vulnerable and unsafe environment.

Thankfully, the Institution has provided Ahinoa with the stability, care, and support she needs to grow and thrive. Surrounded by love and encouragement, she now has the chance to pursue her dreams and build a brighter future. The Home is dedicated to ensuring that Ahinoa grows up in a safe, nurturing environment where her rights as a child are respected and her potential is nurtured. With continued support, Ahinoa has every opportunity to become a strong and positive member of society. Sponsorship could be the key to helping her overcome her challenges and realize her dreams.

About my community:
St. Teresa of Avila (San Juan)
In the diocese of San Juan, CARITAS provides our ministry in collaboration with the Carmelite Sisters. Because our children are being taught and brought up by these sisters, the patron saint whose intercession we ask for this community is St. Teresa of Avila, a famous Carmelite saint.
About my country:
Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic, on the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola, is frequently pummeled by hurricanes and tropical storms that can significantly impact the lives of poor people. Over 34% of Dominicans live below the poverty line, and in addition, many Haitian children have fled here in the aftermath of the 2010 and 2020 earthquake.
