Journey to Uganda through the eyes of 2 Caritas Missionaries

Our Missionaries traveled to Uganda for three weeks in 2015 and three months in 2016. They volunteered and worked with special needs children and adults, as well as helping out in a number of local schools during their time in Nkokonjeru.
While spending time in Uganda, we asked a visiting Westerner what she told people back home when they asked, 'what's your overall impression of Uganda?'.
She said, and we already knew, there was no single, simple response to that question.
She said, 'I tell one story at a time', as there is no way anyone can explain to someone who's never been here what Uganda is like.
These darling children live at Providence House in Nkokonjeru. Every night at 6:00 PM they, and all of the other physically and mentally challenged children, pray the Rosary at an outdoor grotto. (Since this photo was taken, a small Chapel has been constructed on the grounds of Providence Home).
Until this moment, the children prayed the Rosary without Rosaries. These children also rarely if ever receive gifts. On this day they all received Rosaries; made by Bill and Pauline White of Fort Worth, and blessed by their local Parish Priest in Texas.
The sheer joy of this moment, the overwhelming emotion, and the universality of the Catholic Church were only a small part of the wonder of Uganda during our all-too-short time in Africa.
