Accounting Manager (Part-Time)
Title: Accounting Manager
Reports to: President / Executive Director
Time Commitment: Part-time, flexible schedule (approximately 20–30 hours per week, with occasional additional hours during audit and year-end reporting periods)
Compensation: Based on Experience
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin preferred; hybrid or flexible arrangements may be considered depending on experience and organizational needs
Position Summary
CARITAS For Children is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the organization’s day-to-day accounting and financial processing functions. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting audits and compliance requirements, and assisting leadership with financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced in nonprofit or small-business accounting, comfortable working independently, and confident managing transactional accounting processes from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Process accounts payable and record financial transactions
- Manage and record all check deposits received
- Process payroll through payroll provider and record payroll journal entries
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Oversee cash flow tracking and financial record maintenance
- Support annual audit preparation and work with external auditors
- Assist with IRS Form 990 preparation and compliance reporting
- Maintain internal accounting controls and financial processes
- Provide financial reports and support to organizational leadership and board reporting needs
- Support sponsorship-related account tracking and financial reporting as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting processes
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and transactional accounting
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Nonprofit accounting experience preferred

- Paychex
- Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools
