Trishirah’s father is sadly deceased, and since he was the breadwinner for the family, his death left Trishirah and her mother with no support. Her mother, who was very young herself and has no job training or education, was forced to move back in with her own mother (Trishirah's grandmother) in order to survive.

The grandmother is now responsible for supporting Trishirah and her mother. She is a peasant and has very little income to provide for them all. She has no way of sending Trishirah to school.

Trishirah desperately needs to get an education to be able to break the cycle of poverty that her mother and grandmother are trapped in! She is an athletic girl and loves to run, and hopes to become a teacher if she is able to finish her education. She will be in Primary 1 (1^st grade).
