After Steven’s father died, his mother had nowhere to send him where he would be looked after, but she was unemployed. She started taking any jobs she could find to support them, like washing clothes and digging in people’s gardens. She also sells sweet bananas in addition to gardening. She finds it difficult to keep Steven in school although she tries her best to provide for his other basic needs like food, clothing and medical care.

Steven is a caring boy who is always taking care of others. He would like to become a doctor in the future if he gets a chance to go to school and finish his education.
