Scheneidelle lives in Shada in a single-parent family, as her parents are separated. She lives with her mother who is a street vendor. Her father is an electrician but is out of work and does not provide for his daughter.
Since they're on their own, Scheneidelle and her mother struggle to make ends meet, and she will need sponsorship in order to finish her schooling and have a chance at a better life.
Scheneidelle and her mother share a close bond. She also loves to learn and dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up.

Haiti takes up the westernmost one-third of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea and is the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of Haitians live below the poverty line, and over half of the population is under the age of twenty, making the education of Haiti’s young people a priority. These problems were magnified by the devastating earthquake in 2010.
