Muzafalu Ssozi
Uganda
DOB: 11/13/2013
Male
Good Health

Muzafalu’s father tragically passed away after suffering from severe headaches for about two months. His mother was left to provide for the four children despite being untrained in professional skills.

Muzafalu’s mother has a sad, though typical story of her own: after the death of her parents, she had to drop out of school at Primary 4 because she could not afford the tuition fees. She eventually married at 16 because she didn’t want to support herself any longer, but now that her husband is dead she finds herself in the same position as before, but with four children to feed! She digs in other people’s gardens to try to earn enough to support her children’s basic needs, but she cannot afford to send them to school.

Sponsorship will enable Muzafalu to break the cycle of poverty he was born into, getting a good education and the chance of a better life. He hopes to become a doctor if he is able to finish school. His three sisters Damima, Rehemeh, and Hasifah are also available for sponsorship through CARITAS.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
