Mastula’s father abandoned the family because her mother refused to become a Muslim. He then married a Muslim woman and left his family behind.

Mastula’s mother has now been abandoned by several men and she has to support four children on her own. She grows food for the family to eat and earns a little more money by digging in other people’s gardens. Mastula’s father does not support them at all, and her mother can’t afford to keep all her children in school. 

Mastula badly needs sponsorship if she is going to be able to continue in school. If she is able to finish her education, she dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up. Mastula is a kind girl who enjoys playing netball. Her sister Vivian Nalunkuuma is available for sponsorship as well.
