Lorine’s father abandoned the family, and because her mother was unemployed and had no way of providing, she took her daughter to her grandmother’s home and went away. Lorine is now living with her grandmother who is a widow and a peasant but is trying her best to take care of her. It has been very difficult for her to send her to school, and she will not be able to attend without a sponsorship.

Lorine is such a kind girl who dreams of becoming a nurse when she grows up, and she says she would love to bring her parents together again.
