DOB: 11/09/2009
Favorite Subject: Social Studies

Immaculate is under the guardianship of her older sister, Betty. Her parents are peasant farmers who grow food for their many children, but are unable to afford to send them to school. Betty was fortunate to have been sent to school by a Good Samaritan who took an interest in supporting her education. She was able to receive her certificate in Primary Teaching, and is now a teacher at St. Padre Pio school.

Betty has been providing for Immaculate’s personal needs with her small salary, and in addition has been paying for half her tuition fees at St. Padre Pio School! The school has given Immaculate a discount on tuition since Betty is a teacher there, but she still struggles to make payments with her salary alone.

Immaculate (or Immy, as she is known) is a prayerful girl who loves singing hymns and choir songs, and spreads her joy to others by leading them in song! She hopes one day to become a doctor so she can care for others. A sponsorship will continue the good work started by Betty while relieving her of the burden of providing for her sister.

About my country:
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
