George Briton Mbadde
Uganda
DOB: 07/20/2016
Male
Good Health
Favorite Subject: Art
Favorite Pastime: Soccer

Briton is living with his paternal grandmother whose health poor since she is suffers from a combination of hypertension and diabetes. His grandmother is a peasant but has little energy for the hard manual labor usually necessary in peasant farming. She also makes craft baskets which she sells to get some money to sustain herself and the grandchildren she has in her care, but she finds it difficult to keep Briton in school.

His parents have never lived together, even when Briton was born, and they were unemployed. His mother lived with her parents until Briton was 18 months old, but his father was not supporting them at all. Briton was sickly, so his mother left him with his father who took him to the grandmother he lives with now. She realized he was very malnourished, and began to care for him. Neither of his parents have returned to take responsibility for their son.

Briton badly needs sponsorship if he is going to have any chance of getting a good education and making a better life for himself! He likes playing soccer and wants to become a builder when he grows up.

About my country:
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
