David is a young boy living in a family of seven children whose parents who are unemployed. They do manual labor to scrounge enough money for daily meals for the family. His parents never got the chance to go to school because of the disruption caused by civil wars in their community when they were growing up. They not only missed school, but their parents (David’s grandparents) were killed and all their property was taken from them. They now live in a temporary house with their children.
David’s parents had no foundation on which to build a good future for their family, but still wish for a better life for their children. His mother digs in people’s gardens to get food for the family and his father helps people by making mud for bricks in the village. Together they earn enough to feed, clothe and supply their family with other basic needs, but they find it much too difficult to keep David and his siblings in school.
Sponsorship will give David the chance that his parents never had. He hopes to be a musician when he grows up.
